Many online course instructors ask students to post a personal profile for the course to help everyone in the class to get to know one another better. There is a simple way to create your own web page hosted within ANGEL that you can use to make a profile that is reusable for all your ANGEL courses.
First you will need to create an HTML file that will contain all the information you want to share about yourself. This can be done by creating a file in Microsoft Word and saving it as a web page, or using an editing program such as Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe GoLive, etc. There are also simple, free online HTML editors available. Here is one example.
Once you have created your web page, you will upload it to your File space:
From your Home page locate the Toolbox section and click the Files link. Click on the Add Content link. From that menu, choose Create a Folder. Name the folder and click the OK button.
Click on the folder you just created and then again click the Add Content link from the toolbar. Select Upload a File, then use the Browse button to search you computer for your .htm or .html file. Repeat this step for each graphic image and/or web pages you want to link.
After you have finished uploading your files, click on the .htm or .html page you want to show first. Copy the URL from the address window. Next link your web page to your profile.
Click the Preferences icon in the power strip along the left side of the page. Under General User Settings section, click the Personal Information link. Locate the Contact Settings section and in the Homepage box, paste the URL that you copied from the browser.
Make sure to select Members from the drop down box to the right under the Viewable By colunm. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
